Test yourself
Short exercises on Marian Mazur's concepts: 309 entries and 313 definitions, the same ones that appear in the dictionary. Every definition is a translation of a quotation from Mazur's Polish text, with the source given — after you answer, you will see the full translated quotation and a link to the entry page, from which you can go on through the concepts.
The exercises run in a browser with JavaScript enabled. All definitions are also in the dictionary.
Results are not stored or sent anywhere — they disappear when you close the page.
Rules
- A set has 10 questions, and each question has four answers, one of which is correct.
- There are three types of exercise: definition → term (recognise the concept from its definition), term → definition (choose the right definition) and concepts used in a definition (identify a concept on which Mazur bases the entry's definition — the same link that can be seen in the concept graph).
- You can limit the exercises to one domain: cybernetics, qualitative information theory or the theory of character. Wrong answers are drawn from the same domain as the correct one.
- In the question, the entry term is replaced by a blank in the translated quotation, so that it does not give the answer away.
- The set stays the same for the whole day — you can repeat it or compare your score with others. The ‘New set’ button picks another one at random.
